More Money than Brains?

"Authentic brand new Gucci for only $355… you better believe it! Seems nearly impossible especially since I’m referring to one of the latest tote bags to hit Gucci headquarters. Let me introduce to you ladies the Packable Nylon Tote, available now for pre-ordering and for only $355! So this roomy tote doesn’t feature rich all-around Gucci leather, hardware, or some kind of sensible structure, but I’m more than sure this can come handy someway or another". (It darn well better be for $355)  Blablablaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I bet if I made a knock off and put it on Etsy for $20 it would never sell.............. There is absolutely nothing special about this bag I found on a blog today.  Are ppl crazy?  More money than brains it appears, and oh what a bargain!  Sandy

Computers Addicting

Have you ever wondered what your life will be like if your computer goes on the blink? Mine did. It started acting up on Saturday, really weird symptoms. So I did all the usual stuff that most computer geeks tend to do, run the virus checker, defrag and clean up the hard disk, check the registers, reboot, check all the cables and the hardware stuff. This was all to no avail. So hubby, our home computer builder and network administrator comes to the rescue. No matter what he did, he still could not hook up to the network, local access only, even after reloading the network software and working on the system for two days from the software perspective. Matters kept getting worse. I could type faster than the computer would put the words in the system. Now that is bad, because I'm an average speed typist at best. Tuesday morning comes around and I start to work in the sewing/computer room. The system is dragging, like a bad holiday hangover. I reboot. My baby totally dies. No response what so ever from the power button. I say to myself, this is an intermittent power supply failure. Being the experienced ex computer business owner that I am, I decide to pull the power supply to take it down to the local shop to be checked out. Hubby calls home, I update him on the status of my sick "baby". He tells me just to take the whole system into the shop because he won't have time to work on it til the weekend. He knows I will be climbing the walls by the weekend without baby girl.

The computer shop is very professional, has the new power supply in the system and up and running again in a couple of hours. So, I pick it up, put it in the car and tell myself the day is already shot for work so I go to the grocery store for my Mom and take her lunch and the groceries because she is not feeling well. I get on her computer (a hubby build for her too), check my Etsy, Google analytics, look at the blog, and am satisfied that nobody really missed my constant online attention for three days.

Hubby comes home, plugs baby girl in and WOWzy, flames shoot out the back of the new power supply. I am sullen and disappointed. I call the computer shop which is closing in ten minutes and they say....in all their years in business nothing like this has ever happened. The house smells acrid from the burning components all evening as a painful reminder that baby girl is dead. Hubby feels sorry for me and lends me his work laptop to check up on things at Sew Sassy Shop. All is well at the virtual store and I am still not missed. In fact I am agitated that my shop looks and hearts are way down for the last couple of days, and dropping rapidly. Down from 80 some visits on Saturday to a low of 14 on Tuesday. Just goes to show you that if you don't promote for even a few days, you dry up and wither away. I don't know what to do with myself and I finally resign myself to watching the boob tube.

Wednesday, morning, today, I sneak into hubby's office, and get on his computer after he is off to work. Can't stand it without my regular routine of coffee and internet. Baby girl is packed in the car, ready to go back to the hospital. I drive her over and drop her off. They will call in a couple of hours.

Guess I will take some time to do a bit of laundry, make the bed, dust and run the vacuum. How boring. I've outgrown housekeeping. My online life is much more exciting than spending the day alone cleaning. What has my world come to? I'm an addict. Computer addict that is. Life feels discombobulated without baby girl. I hope the news is good later today. Off to clean. Sandy

I made this tote for myself over three years ago.  It has been well used on many occasions from traveling with me on the airplane, to carrying my fabric swatches to the fabric store, to going over to my Mom's for a slumber party, and as a purse to match my many outfits in this beautiful teal color.  Not only is it functional, it is useful and pretty.  Plus I have monogramed my initials on it to make it very personalized.  No other will be made like it again, ever. 

You may think that $50-$75 is a lot to pay for an item like this, however if you look at the price over the long haul, it costs fractions of a cent a day to own and use.  For instance, a bag or tote that is $60 today, costs a mere $12 a year to use and enjoy over a five year term.  I plan to get many more years of use out of this tote than five because, wheather I make it for myself, a friend, a family member or a customer, I make it to last a very long time indeed.

All Cleaned Up and Ready To go Again!

All organized and ready to sew again, it took all day but I guess it was worth it.  Although I do love to see may material out in piles because it does make it easier to coordinate fabric pieces!

The Mess Fairy

See this sewing room mess?  I can't blog another word, list another item, or send another email until I get this mess cleaned up!  Creating is a MESSY business!  LOL.  I clean up my work space, start sewing again and within the week......OMgosh, the MESS Fairy has visited me again.  What to do?  Shut down for a day and organize once again.

God's Gifts to Us

God gives gifts to each  of us for the purpose of serving one another and glorifying Him.   This is not only true in our churches of worship, it also encompases those in whom we come into contact with each day.  The long term goal of spiritual growth is that others around us recognize the transformations that comes about in our daily lives.   The way we live our lives becomes an example for others.   God's gifts to us include inspired and divine speaking to others, serving others by recognizing and attending to their needs, teaching and encouraging, sharing, leading and showing compassion.  It is my goal this week in my daily walk at home and at SewSassy to serve you in anyway I can.  If you have a need for prayer this week, if you are hurting or worried, if you just need a friend to talk to, please contact me.  The Lord has lead you here for a reason and whatever the reason may be, I pray that I may be a blessing in your life.  I pray that God will bless you this week in your personal life as well as in your business.  I pray that if you come to my blog or my store, that I recognize that God has sent you as a gift to me and I am a gift to you.  Have a wonderful and productive week and may you do the work that the Lord our God has sent you with a happy heart.  Love and Blessings to you.

Since the publication in 1992 of Julia Cameron's creativity handbook The Artist's Way, it has sold more than 2 million copies and inspired people from all walks of life to explore their artistic abilities. Her follow-up book, Walking in This World, offers 12 more weeks of creative how-tos. In addition to teaching workshops and public speaking, Julia is also a poet, playwright, fiction writer, essayist, and journalist. She spoke with Beliefnet about the connections between spirituality and the creative process.

What is the relationship between creativity and faith?


Art used to be made in the name of faith. We made cathedrals, we made stained-glass windows, we made murals. When Michelangelo was flat on his back in the Sistine Chapel, he was in service to something larger and greater than himself. And so artists have always talked about the inner connection to a larger something, and sometimes we call it the muse. But what we are actually talking about is that any time that you are engaged in a creative act, you are engaged in a spiritual act. And that's probably the single most important sentence: Any time we're engaged in a creative act, we're engaged with an inherently spiritual act.

Faith is almost the bottom line of creativity; it requires a leap of faith any time we undertake a creative endeavor, whether this is going to the easel, or the page, or onto the stage—or for that matter, in a homelier way, picking out the right fabric for the kitchen curtains, which is also a creative act. You have to muster a certain amount of belief that you're not making a mistake and you're not a fool. And this means you have to have faith.

The Reason I Make Totes

The Fabric is a canvas.  A blank canvas ready to be reinvented to be splashed with color and a story.  I tell a story with every item I embroider.  The stories are usually about nature oriented things, like birds and flowers.  I love the world that God has provided for us and want to depict beauty in his name.

I make the bags also because I CAN'T stand digging around in a purse, especially a purse with black lining, to find something.  I have totally lost my checkbook in those darn thing!  Because of this I design thre inside of the bag to be as efficiently beautiful as the outside.  "A place for everything, and everything in it's place."  Ever heard that saying before?  It totally sums up the bags I make.  Beautiful, Practical, and Purposeful. Period.  I'm in a hurry so I am not going to proof this document now, so TTY Business PPL for Christ. 

The Spirit has blessed me with Talent

Since I have restarted blogging on Jan. 1, 2010, The Lord has called me to give up this little business of "mine", completely to him.  It's no longer mine, but his and his alone to do with as he pleases.  If you are called to this blog or the virtual store, then I believe that he has sent you here for a reason yet to be known by you or by me.  We are to share the gifts that he has given me, and I to receive the gifts he has given you.  My nature is now changed because my mind is changed by giving the Spirit Control, which leads me into true Life and Peace.  Therefore, this week,  I will not fret if I get no sales, nor will if fret if nobody reads my blog.  It is out of my control and in His control  and his alone.  The Holy Spirit is constantly working to bring us new insight if we will only investigate with our spirits open.  The life in The Spirit is a daily revelation of Christ.  God has something to share with us everyday.  Everything we do operates by faith and trust in the Holy Spirit. 

Thank you for reading this, as I know and trust with all my heart that you are here as a gift to me from the Holy Spirit, and I to you.
